Scholarships for International Students
For the 2013-2014 Academic Year
IUPUI offers many scholarship opportunities for international students!
- All scholarships require full-time enrollment (12 credit hours or more per semester) in the fall and spring semesters.
- If you take the SAT or ACT examination more than once, the highest scores will be used for scholarship consideration.
- Funds provided by these scholarships do not cover intensive English as a Second Language study.

Admission-Based Scholarships For Beginning Freshmen

Students may receive only one of the following five scholarships. Submit your complete application for admission by February 1. A separate scholarship application is not required.
These scholarships are available to beginning freshmen who will pay non-resident fees at IUPUI. If you are eligible to pay tuition at the in-state rate, visit http://www.iupui.edu/~scentral for information on scholarship opportunities for students paying fees at resident rates.
IUPUI Chancellor's Non-Resident Scholarship
Twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) annually for 4 years
Students who have applied for admission by February 1 who have a minimum high school GPA of 3.75 (on a 4.0 scale) with a minimum 1250 SAT (for the mathematics and critical reading scores) or 28 ACT composite score may be eligible for this scholarship. Chancellor's Recognition Scholars are automatically admitted to the IUPUI Honors College. The Honors College provides access to specialized advising, state-of-the-art facilities, and opportunities to conduct research and participate in leadership development. To be considered for renewal, students must attend full time, be an active participant in the Honors College and maintain a 3.3 GPA (no separate application required).Valedictorian and Salutatorian Scholarships
Ten thousand dollars ($10,000) annually for 4 years
Students who have applied for admission by February 1, who are ranked first or second in their high school class may qualify for this scholarship. To be considered for renewal, students must attend full time and maintain a 3.0 GPA (no separate application is required). Students considered for this scholarship must graduate from a class of 25 students or higher. *Students who also meet the Chancellor's Non-Resident Scholarship criteria above will receive an additional $4,000 for a total award of $14,000 annually.*Dean's Recognition Scholarship
Eight thousand dollars ($8,000) annually for 4 years
Students who have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and who score 1200 or higher on the SAT (total represents Critical Reading and Math scores only; international students from non-English speaking countries must have a minimum SAT Math score of 600) or ACT score of 26 may be eligible for this scholarship. To be considered for renewal, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.IUPUI Service Award
Five thousand dollars ($5,000) annually for 4 years
Students who have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Likely candidates are reviewed on an individual basis with particular attention paid to academic curriculum and standardized test scores. Recipients must volunteer for 20 hours of service at IUPUI events annually. To be considered for renewal, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.International Ambassador Award
Five thousand dollars ($5,000) annually for 4 years Students who have a GPA of 2.5 and must be admitted as beginning freshmen by May 1st for the fall semester and submit one of the following: a minimum iBT TOEFL score of 80, a minimum SAT Critical Reading Score of 450, or an IELTS score of 6.0. Recipients must volunteer annually for 15 hours of service at IUPUI events that have an international theme. To be considered for renewal, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Admission-Based Scholarships For Transfer Students

To be considered for a transfer scholarship, submit your complete application for admission by March 1 (Fall Enrollment) or October 1 (Spring Enrollment).
Nonresident Transfer Scholar Award
Five thousand dollars ($5,000) annually for 2 years
Students who have a postsecondary study record at an officially recognized university with earned GPA of 3.3 or higher. To be considered for renewal, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.ELS Transfer Ambassador Award
Five thousand ($5,000) annually for 2 years
Students who successfully complete Level 112 at ELS Language Centers may be eligible for this award. Recipients must volunteer for 15 hours of service at IUPUI events annually. To be considered for renewal, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is only available for the Fall enrollment period.

Competitive Scholarships

All competitive program recipients must begin studies in the fall semester as a beginning freshman. All applicants must apply for admission and for scholarship by November 15.
Highly competitive scholarship programs are for exceptional incoming freshmen who have achieved outstanding performance in a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, excellent SAT or ACT scores (for applicants for whom English is not their native language, TOEFL results), and, as finalists, complete an interview as the final step in the process. (Students residing outside Indiana will be interviewed by phone.)
Bepko Scholars and Fellows Program
The Bepko Scholars and Fellows Program is designed for students who demonstrate integrity, dedication, leadership, and a commitment to service. This highly competitive scholarship program provides financial, academic, and programming support to academically motivated and civically engaged students throughout their undergraduate and post-graduate years. Students selected for this scholarship program receive undergraduate tuition (up to the Indiana resident rate), fees, a $2,500 study abroad stipend, and books for four years of study. Bepko Scholars also receive two years of on-campus housing and are required to live in the Honors Residential Learning Community their freshman year. Bepko Scholars who attend IUPUI for graduate or professional study receive $5,000 per year for four years and are named Bepko Fellows. This program also provides academic and programming support to students throughout their undergraduate and post-graduate years.
Criteria: Excellent SAT or ACT scores, outstanding performance in a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, and extensive civic engagement endeavors are required.

Plater International Scholars Program
The Plater International Scholars Program is designed for exceptional incoming freshmen who are committed to combining academic excellence with global citizenship. This highly competitive scholarship program is for students with an interest in international affairs and cross-cultural experiences. Plater International Scholars will be actively involved in international programming, both off and on campus. In close cooperation with the Office of International Affairs, recipients of the Plater International Scholarship will be exposed to high profile international visitors, international seminars, and lectures. Students selected for this scholarship program receive $12,000 per year for four years of study, $2,500 for a study abroad experience, and a $2,500 housing stipend for International House, located in the Campus Apartments on the Riverwalk, for their freshman year.
Criteria: Excellent SAT or ACT scores, outstanding performance in a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, and international interest are required. Semi-finalists for the award must also complete an interview as the final step of the application process.
